Is it too late..?

Okay.. So I'm a pretty bad student. Yes, I admit it. I've slacked off my whole freshman year, and pretty much all my sophomore year too. I'm going to start doing everything to change my attitude and grades. My parents weren't born here, and I don't know anything about college. I'm a sophomore in HS and I'm kinda scared I won't get into college. What are my chance of even getting into any college? If I clean up my act right now.. Is there any chance at all of getting into my dream colleges? (NYU, Boston, and UCLA?)

Freshman courses:
Coordinated Science
PE
French 1-2
Honor English 1-2
Geometry
FS studies/Health

GPA: 3.3

Sophomore courses:

Algebra II
World History

GPA: 3.2 (French really brought me down)

Yeah.. My Junior projected classes are Chemistry, AP English Composition, Precal/Cal (2 in one), probably PE, and American History.

Pleeease help me.. Please?

You'll be fine. Don't worry.

French is really bringing my GPA down. I'm getting a D. Everything else is like A and B. Like one C. Should I drop it? I took it my freshman year, and this year.. and language is 3 years for college.

not all colleges want language, but if the ones you like require it, then you really have no choice.

you and i are pretty similar, i myself was not born here neither were my parents

i took french also and my freshman gpa was only 2.70 (aca) both semesters
i nailed a couple of 4.0's sophomore year and a 4.375 my junior year but with only one honors and two ap's i didnt get to take calc my senior year but i still got into 4/5 of the uc's (ucla rejected :( // berkeley in :D)

i think you'll do fine just concentrate on your gpa as well as ur sats and sat ii's and also do extra curricular of your interest and not the fake ones :)

Hmmm...I've been reading all these stats....and I'm a little worried that I don't have enough ec's and stuff. I'm also a sophomore and was wondering what areas I should improve on. Right now, all I have is some basic awards in math that I could fall back on, but I probably need to seem more well rounded...anyways, I feel like I'm rambling. Here's what I have so far, and it would be appreciated if you guys can tell me what I should do to improve:

Hmmm...I need more clubs...and how does the quality of your school affect selection?

"Hmmm...I need more clubs...and how does the quality of your school affect selection?"

i don't wanna assess your stats beacuse i think it's too good :)

and answering that question yes i think the quality of school does affect college selection

my school doesn't have much available extra curriculars, and the api is around 400~ i don't mean to degrade my school's reputation, it produces well rounded students but the api score and the extra curriculars...

Well, I'm not in any clubs so I guess I should join something? Don't have much EC's either. Just bunch of community service. I guess I need to work on my GPA so I should drop French? Start over with Spanish? Would that mess up stuff?

desksocks:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCLA: Reach

I got a question guys. Is it possible to take language at the city college during the summer and get credit as a course.. So I would get atleast 3 years? Cuz I'm failing her class, she's the only french teacher, and I need one more year. So am I allowed to do that?

Thanks
