I have seen this a few places and wasn't sure if it was true. Anybody know?

Yes. This is true, which sucks for people like me with 770 W scores and only low 700 CR and M scores. =]

Hillary, you still have a chance!!! Never give up!!

I can't imagine that they're that test centered. They want really smart students, so they'll want 1400+ CR+M scores, but you don't have to have a perfect score. I hope. :)

D. is in with a 770 math and 760 CR.

NOT true!
no school could possibly do that!
i got in with a 1420 regular decision this year, its more about being well rounded

No, I mean they only look at the Math and Reading sections. Don’t look at the writing.

It is true. If you do not have atleast a 1600 Vandy probably won’t look at you. :P

(To answer your question. No they look at all 3 sub sections. Probably more weight on the canonical two, however as the years go on, I’m sure the writing will attain the same level of credibility.)

no. GCN2 youre wrong. they dont even consider the writing section. they only look at math and CR for admissions decisions.

Yeah. I even e-mailed my admissions counselor months ago about this.

She said they don’t look at it (this year atleast) because it would benefit the humanitarians, which wouldn’t be fair. Haha.

I’d listen to the overly paranoid applicants instead of me then haha.

Generally, I don’t think schools are considering the writing portion yet, although they are collecting the data. It remains to be seen whether success (or not) on the writing section has any bearing on college success.

We’ve visited a bunch of schools in the past two years and I don’t think one reported consideration of the writing score for anything more than stats.

they definitely only look at reading and math (hallelujah!). I have an 800M, 730CR, and 610W, and i received the cornelius vanderbilt scholarship.

Ok, this is good news for me. But, I could see it being bad for others.
