Is it worth it?

So, today I took a quiz in Latin that involved 4+ hours of studying last night and I was really worried that I would bomb it. I ended up getting a 95 (which I am ecstatic about.) However, my Latin teacher informed the class that if we stay after school for an hour for a tutoring session, we can make it up for full credit - so I could potentially get a 100.

The thing is, its my senior year, and first quarter is really my last chance to get up my GPA as high as possible before college applications. While I think that an hour after school is a little drastic for five points, at the same time, I feel as though those five points could be the difference between a 96.4 (an A) and a 96.5 (an A+) which would effect my GPA kind of significantly.

Do you think its worth it?

Well ask yourself what you would do with that time if you were to not do the extra tutoring. Would it be productive or wasted? Would it be homework or CC?

A few things to consider: what else could you be doing in that hour? How heavily is that test weighed? How confident are you in getting those few extra points?

This is the answer I have with my filter turned off: it’s totally pathetic to spend an hour of your time to raise a test grade by five points- especially since you got an A in the first place. Seriously, I’m sure you have much better things to do. It’s not gonna be like:

Smith College: Psh! This lowly child had a GPA of 3.799999. She shall be banished from the kingdom!

I would still go for it. It’s always a good idea to get the highest grades in the highest quality you can in case something bad goes wrong. Like for example, I bombed the first AP Gov test (B), but I had 100’s in everything else, so I’m still in the running to pull my grade up fast. Don’t get cocky is what I’m saying; better to be safe than sorry.

The hour would probably be spent sleeping or on CC tbh.

I’d go. The actual tutoring might help you even more than the 5 points.
