Is it worth retaking a D+ and a C-

Fall Quarter was really tough for me as a CSE major. I didn't have programming experience coming in and got a D+ for CS 31 and a C- for Math 32A. Should I retake those? I skipped out of Chem 20A, Eng Comp 3, Math 31A, and Math 31B, so I would have to take 42 classes over the next 11 quarters. I was planning on taking Summer 2014 for three Physics courses/labs. My overall GPA is 2.57

If you are interested in attending a professional or graduate school in the future, it would be a good idea to raise those grades and retake the classes. Would the D+ get in the way of fulfilling pre-requisites for future classes?

Going off this link, I am not sure if a C- is required to continue on to CS 32 but I probably should retake CS 31 to get a better understanding and avoid a brutal curve.

I don’t plan on going on to grad school for Engineering though. I wanted to go directly into industry and then eventually pursue an MBA.

I would retake it if I were you. UCLA is my top choice, and I was thinking of pursuing a minor in CS if I get in. Is it as hard as you say it is? D:

It is pretty tough but you are probably a lot smarter than me. I personally felt I studied my butt off but the curve for Fall Quarter is brutal since a lot of people have CS experience and took multivariable in HS. My Regents friend barely scraped by with a C in CS 31 and C+ in Math 32A and had a 2.96 GPA overall. Not to scare you or anything but it is honestly really tough for most people. But you never know unless you try! Good luck :)

It’s really not that difficult to me… Eons easier than chemistry. I guess everybody has their strengths and weaknesses. The OP got a similar grade in Calculus so you can use that for reference. Do you consider Calculus challenging? Most students pass CS and most pass Calculus. Some get A’s (not me).

Not meaning to offend the OP.

Thanks, Darthpwner! Nah, I doubt that I am smarter than you!

I do consider Calculus challenging.

My Math professor changed my grade to a C after he reevaluated my final :)
