Just got a D+...

Just got a D+ in one of my GE classes, I'm not exactly sure how grades lower than C worked (never really got a grade lower than a C in high school >_>) So I was wondering do I still receive credit? If I take it over does it erase? Thanks in advance.

you can retake any course if you get a C- or lower and the new grade you get will replace the grade you got

Really dragon? any course?

Really…I think.

For a GE, retaking it is best and allowed.

Only time it would be bad is if its a course required for your major and it’s one of a series (i.e. ECE 2A of ECE 2A-B-C). Because these courses are only offered once a year. Retaking it would mean waiting a whole year.

The only problem with retaking a course it that it does fix your GPA, but it does not get erased from your transcript. So if you are planning to apply for grad school, they will definitely see it.

So should I plan on grad school, seeing as how they will already see my first grade on the transcript is it advised to still take it over or what? What’s my best option at this point? Thanks so much your help

honestly i doubt grad schools/employers will really care. I have friends who are Comp Sci majors who repeated CS40 and got an “A” second time around. As long as you learn you’ll be fine. Good luck.

You shouldn’t dismiss your plans for grad school because of one bad grade.
At least I’m not. I got an F in math 5c and retook it for an A. Some schools may reject me because of that F, but other schools may see that I really put the effort to learn something I struggled in.

Even if I wasn’t planning for grad school, I would retake it unless I REALLY didn’t understand the material.

Alright, thanks keltix, I’ll probably retake the class when I get the chance. Much appreciated!
