Is Michigan A Big Stickler about Deadlines?

So on the U Mich website, it says it only considers an early application complete when all things they require are received on Nov 1st. Problem is, the Collegeboard decides to update their electronic reporting system, thus delaying my score reports. Will an sat score report a couple of days late result in an application being deferred to regular decision, even if this was completely out of my hands?

As long as you have reported at least one ACT or SAT score and it arrives in time it will not affect EA. The updated scores will just be added. If you have send in no scores, or any other piece is missing, you will be moved to RD. You should check Michigan’s web site for more information about the CB and if they will extend the EA deadline a few days.

Last year they did not get through all of the EA applications in time and deferred some people.

^ I am not aware of that last year but the year before that. Also, they did not consider those as deferred but just a delayed EA review. For that year, some of the admission notices were sent in January and they were still eligible to merit scholarships.

Usually, I would say that Michigan sticks to the deadlines. But this was not a usual circumstance. Students who were requesting orders from CollegeBoard as early as October 14 were affected. CollegeBoard has sent out a message to the Michigan (and all other universities) explaining the problem and absolving applicants of their tardiness. That is not to say that Michigan will make an exception this year, but I would not be surprised if it did.

I sent mine Oct 16 and it made it in 12 hours late D: If CB hadn’t changed their scoring system my score would’ve made it in.
