Is Michigan a good party school?

I know Michigan is a good academic school, but how is the party scene/Greek life. Where does it rank compared to some schools like Wisconsin or Arizona?

It’s like #20-25 nationwide; if you’re comparing it with ASU, no it’s not even close to a good party school. Schools like UMich concentrate more on academics I’m pretty sure.

umich is a pretty big party school for its academic level lol 20% of students are in greek life and state street has a lot of frat parties.

Here is an old thread from a couple of years back with rankings:

At UMich you can have TWO, but not ALL THREE of the following:

  • Good Grades,
  • A Social Life,
  • Sleep.

You can only opt against sleep for a short time until you crash.

Agree. For many students, sleep is far more elusive than parties and having fun. Michigan requires self discipline. Indeed, most students I have known have really enjoyed Michigan (and Ann Arbor). There are always parties going on but the workload is heavy. What makes Michigan in many ways is Ann Arbor.

My daughter has a good social life and good grades. Sleep is even ok. She goes out once during the week’ this time Thursday because no Friday classes. Then a typical weekend ( in the fall) would be, out to dinner with friends on Friday night after studying for a few hours after class. Up EARLY on a football Saturday and party til game time. Then go to the game and back home to nap and study. Study all day Sunday but a party Sunday night is not unheard of. She’s in Greek life but like most u mich students put an emphasis on studying.
