I also have 16 units from high school and 12 units from a foreign university
And 5 years completed in a foreign language.

I really hope I'm ok, I'm getting all confused with the IGETC thingy.

I think you’re good, if I’m not mistaken, each CCC has their own IGETC completion requirements (although they pretty much are the same). If you have more doubts, go see a counselor (no matter how unreliable they sometimes -cough- are), they should know how to fill out the IGETC form and let you know! If they tell you you’re good to go, once you request for an official transcript, there should be a box you can check off for them to state on your transcript that you have completed IGETC.

Ok I will ask a counselor about it, and how to have my courses certified. I already sent the official transcripts for fall 2009 but I’ll make sure I get it certified before I send my spring 2010 coursework.

I am just worried because it seems that spanish 101 doesn’t count for IGETC, neither does philosophy 100…so that would make it less than 60 units if I remove these…

^
That’s weird, I took Phil101 and it counted towards IGETC and I took the AP tests for Spanish and got credit for 101 and 102 which is on IGETC…

Don’t worry too much, just go see a counselor tomorrow (or the earliest) so you won’t be freaking out!

I don’t understand assist.org… I only use it for my major requirements. On there it said you only need 34 semester units for IGETC which is weird because I thought it was 60!

“The IGETC requires completion of a minimum of 37 semester or 49 quarter units of lower division work with a C grade or better in each course. A grade of “Credit” or “Pass” may be used if the community college’s grading policy states that “Credit” or “Pass” is equivalent to a grade of “C” or better. If you complete IGETC requirements and your courses are certified, you will be required to complete at least 9 semester units of upper-division general education work after transfer to a CSU campus”

So the IGETC has nothing to do with the 60 transferable units requirement. You need 37 units that are listed on the IGETC sheet (for which spanish 101 doesnt count, but is still transferable and part of the 60 units).

I have 45 semester units that are listed on the IGETC sheet so I’m good I think.

I believe it’s 37 units to fulfill IGETC, but 60 to make yourself eligible for transfer. You need to be at Junior standing when you transfer, but the IGETC is like a list of courses to give you the minimum required breadth for a four year college. The IGETC won’t just automatically put you at junior standing.

Oh, I don’t know Romeo. I’m sure he must be great though-- It’s a fun class regardless. I’m glad I took it. Hey, who’d you have for ENG 205? I took it last fall also.

I had Mr. Musgrave. Definitely do not recommend. At least for me, I couldn’t get used to his teaching style.

34 units? Cool, thanks for the clarification. When I did my IGETC I just worked off the little sheet you get from the counselors and didn’t count.

@jamesinho, I had Mr. Musgrave too!!! I took English 205 with him last semester…he was…interesting lol. Seriously, what were all of the mock trials about?! lol I totally bombed that weird fallacy final but he gave me an A in the class because I sucked up to him all semester haha.

@lisc949: I don’t even know! I was so lost in that class. I bombed my first trial. In fact I got all As last semester EXCEPT that class (got a B). English classes and I have an adversarial relationship as it is, I was just glad to be done with that class. Good for you for getting an A! I know it wasn’t easy!
