So I had scheduled my classes yesterday, and this is my schedule (I'm a senior):

AP Enviroment (I originally wanted AP Bio, but my guidance counselor said I should take Enviro)
AP Human Geo (I heard this class was really easy; they added it to the curriculum this year since its a new course)
AP Psych (I heard this was easy too...)
AP Lit
CP Calculus (We have no IB or Honors...i don't qualify for AP now but if I pull up my average then I can qualify, but i REALLY don't want to do AP Calc)
Chorus
Mandatory Study Hall for AP Science
Lunch
Gym

I dropped Spanish. Should I take more challenging courses? I was comparing course selection with my friends and they said I should've taken AP Bio instead and something instead of Human Geo... What do you guys think?

Also, what if I took AP Stat instead of Calc next year (provided that I qualify for an AP math course)? Would that be better?

lol, I’d drop “lunch” if I were you. It could be a more challenging schedule though. I’d personally go for at least one of those AP math courses, because those extra credits can really help you in college.

AP Human Geography has a horrible book, is boring and often gets a bad teacher. My daughter had 5’s on AP Cal BC , AP Lit, AP World, APUSH, AP Gov, AP Stats, AP ES, 4 in AP French and 3 in APHG. She still considers the worst course she had in high school.

I found out today that I can put chorus during my lunch period… (students are not allowed to drop lunch altogether) that will leave another elective slot open. Should I take AP Stat in its place? I feel like 5 APs would be soooo overwhelming for me though…

Because America isn’t as smart as you (likely) are. I haven’t seen the stats but I bet other APs have comparable statistics. The simple fact that you are writing on CC means that you will probably get a 4 or a 5 because you care more about your education than the majority of American students. Don’t go by those stats to determine whether or not an AP is hard or not, you’re better off asking in the AP forums.

I’m taking AP Human Geo right now, and while I havent taken the exam yet, I can tell you that yes, the textbook is boring as heck(we still have to read it though). Fortunately, I have a great teacher who explains everything to us in NORMAL english. The class itself is relatively easy, a bunch of it is common sense, and there’s also some need-to-memorize terms, examples, and diagrams. But getting a test prep book(I recommend Kaplan) will help tremendously, especially if you have a less-than-good teacher.

As for AP Environmental Science vs. AP Bio, I’m having the same problem, though with AP Bio vs. Chem. In you’re case, I’d go with AP Bio, though I’ve heard the class/test is rather hard. AP Environmental Science is one of those classes that the really good colleges almost never give credit to, same with Human Geo.

Completely wrong about AP human geography. I thought the book was great and taking to class really opened my eyes to a lot of new things. Had a great teacher, one of the best I’ve ever had. I’d be moronic to suggest that all AP human classes are “boring” because it depends on the teacher and the student. What’s boring to you may interest someone else.

Colleges are happy to see APs and you’re taking quite a couple. They like AP Bio so take it next year/semester if you can but I think you have a great schedule. A lot of the people on this site are out of the norm. A course load that they can handle might not be realistic for you. Stick with your schedule.

And wait, if you’re a senior then colleges don’t really care about these classes. You already submitted your apps if you’re a senior now. Stop worrying.
