I got into AP Seminar, AP Biology, and AP World History. So, this is what my schedule is looking like for sophomore year:
-AP Seminar/AP Capstone
-AP Biology
-AP World History
-Trigonometry
-Physical Education
-Spanish 3 & 4
Is this too much? I’m worried that I’m taking a larger bite than I can chew. Any tips or advice? Thank you!
Do a site search here for “AP Biology” to read many tales of woe. Is that a block schedule? What classes did you take freshman year and what grades did you get?
Doesn’t seem hard except Spanish 3 AND 4 seems tough. I’m going to be a sophomore next year as well, and I personally don’t think biology isn’t that bad…it depends on how much work you are willing to put in and if you like rote memorization.
@damon30 No, it’s just 45 minutes a period and a maximum of 10 periods depending on classes. This year I got straight A’s on the first semester and currently have all As and 2 A-s, and I calculated a GPA of 3.95 for freshman year if my current grades would count as Semester 2.
Ok, then it seems like you can handle it. But I strongly, strongly recommend studying ahead now in Biology. Do everything Biology-related on Khan Academy before the start of the school. AP Bio is a GPA-killer. And you should also have some kind of plan for Spanish, seeing that you are doubling-up like that.
It seems like you’ll be fine! I took ap bio and world this year (with some other aps mixed in ) and i found those 2 to be the easiest out of all my classes. of course it depends on the teacher you get but I feel biology can be easily self studied with all the resources out there (bozeman, amoeba sisters, khan academy**, etc.)
is your Spanish 3 & 4 basically 2 semesters of Spanish and next year is 5&6. If that is the case Spanish 3&4 are equivalent to Spanish 2 when taught as a full year class which sounds pretty typical. If it is Spanish 3&4 and the year after is AP Spanish it sounds pretty fast paced.
Sounds doable except perhaps so Bio hecuer it typically requires some chemistry and some biology beforehand, typically bio honors and chem Honors. What’s the science sequence at your school?
-AP Seminar/AP Capstone
-AP Biology
-AP World History
-Trigonometry
-Physical Education
-Spanish 3 & 4
Why are you in a hurry? What are your plans for junior and senior year?
AP Capstone…why take it as a sophomore? Capstone means the something you put on at the end…
AP BIO: What is the normal progression of science at your HS? Why not take Honors Chem?
Why Spanish 3 and 4 ? Why not just spanish 3?
What about English?
@bopper AP Capstone starts for sophomores at my school. I already did Biology and am currently doing Chemistry and Spanish 3 & 4 is Spanish for Semesters 1 and 2 for that year. English is covered under AP Capstone.
@MYOS1634 It goes from Biology to Chemistry to Physics and then so on. I did Biology and am currently doing Chemistry so I was allowed to apply for AP Biology.
