Is Peterson's Good for U.S. History?

I’m not American (British), therefore I have to learn the material by myself. I hear Barron’s is unnecessarily complex and Spark Notes (which I used last week just to gain a very rough overview of the historical narrative) is, while decent, lacking some of the finer details. Peterson’s seems to a good middle ground by not being unnecessarily complicated nor neglecting finer details, i.e. the question about the early immigration trends (mostly English for 17th century, non-English for 18th) is not covered Spark Notes but it is Peterson’s.

Ditto for Peterson’s Biology vs. Spark Notes/Barron’s.

So, is Peterson’s good? If not, why and what do you suggest?

Thanks for reading.

Use Larry Krieger’s Insiders guide. The book covers everything in the test. My son used it and he got an 800.

@Calmpony

There are two US History books by Larry Krieger: The Insider’s SAT II US History Exam and The Insider’s Complete Guide to AP US History. Which one did your son use for the Subject Test?

The Insider’s SAT II US History Exam only contains 254 pages. Is it comprehensive enough?

@StevenToCollege we have both but for the Sat subject test use the sat 2 book. The questions on test weirdly enough seem to come straight from the book. DS went through the book twice and he did well.
