Is Polo Ralph Lauren or Abercrombie Better?

A&F Clothes look like crap. I seriously think I can just pick up one of my raggedy old t-shirts, do a sloppy print job on the front with the logo and then return it to the store and make $40 off of it.

They make nice cologne though, I'll give you that. And the daddy's princesses that shop at A&F stores, top notch.

They both suck

wheres a good place to get tee shirts for the summer...i really like the clothes i have for cold weather but im getting tired of my Abercrombie and hollister haughty **** in the summer. whats a good, sophisticated look?

Ralph Lauren...?

Polos (pastels are always good), shorts (plaid/madras/khakis), pants (I got myself a few seersuckers/khakis).

but from where...i want to look nice with out trying to "show off my affluence" or whatever. J. Crew looks nice, any others?

"but from where...i want to look nice with out trying to "show off my affluence" or whatever. J. Crew looks nice, any others?'

J.Crew is a beautiful choice for well-dressed man who don't like logos.

Get some oxford shirt from J.Press, if you happen to live in a city with J.Press. Grab some basics from Brooks Brothers, as well. Bill's khakis are the best quality khakis, you may want to look into those.

What I described was more well put together than showing off affluence (then you could get some chains or whatever they wear). Brooks Brothers has a nice collection. Banana Republic also has a nice sale going on (at least in NYC) where you can pick up some stuff. J. Crew has a good online sale to pick up polos and khakis.

BTW Vineyard Vines polos are top notch. Check those out.

Yet another tip: Be cautious of people wearing those nasty big pony polos. For some reason I am seeing a sudden emergence of them here in the city. The probability that they are a dbag is rather high.

For those of you who don't know, you can get a lacoste polo on ebay for less than twenty dollars. That is, If you want to wear the same shirt as everyone else at your trendy school.

I like: Ralph Lauren (especially purple label), Vineyard Vines, Brooks Brothers, J. Press...and for shoes: sperry and ferragamo

When people wear the big pony shirts you can tell they're wanna be's.

"I like: Ralph Lauren (especially purple label), Vineyard Vines, Brooks Brothers, J. Press...and for shoes: sperry and ferragamo"

Mixing old-school J.Press sack suits with fashionable ferragamo shoes.........mmm. ;)

Actually Jonathan I think a person sporting those are most likely saying:

"Hey guys yes i did get myself a RL polo and dropped the A&F look recently".

<a href="http://www.polo.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2019244&cp=1760781.1760809&parentPage=family%5B/url%5D">http://www.polo.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2019244&cp=1760781.1760809&parentPage=family</a></p>

ewwwwww :D

oh look, another thread on brands. hmm...well a section of my wardrobe is made up of lacoste and a+f. i only get a+f pants, because i dont like their shirts. i think ralph lauren is very nice and conservative. though i have a couple of lacoste items, i think that its getting too trendy. i think i'll switch to ralph lauren instead. now that sounded very spoiled and stuff, but trust me, a great majority of my stuff is old navy + macy's and stuff. i dont believe in shopping in solely cheap or expensive brands; i buy where the stuff looks good on me, and not for the name brand or pricetag. i dont like those "omg it would be sooo disgraceful for me to shop at like, old navy" but i also dont like those "everyone who wears a name brand is a preppy wannabe!" ppl either.

Andrassy> Imagine my reaction when I spotted three people with that in a 4 hour span while walking around the downtown area (NYC).

for those of you who like RL: do you get the regular or custom fit polos?

A+F or diesel for jeans, Lacoste for polos, and RL for button up and dress shirts.
