I understand that it won't give you any type of boost during the admissions process but it certainly can't hurt, right? I've heard from a few sources that it is a good idea to communicate with your admissions officer. What do you guys think? I mean comminicate before way admissions processing time. I'm currently a sophomore and am considering emailing my admissions officer next week.

I don’t see how communicating for the heck of it would be beneficial to anyone. If you have questions to ask your regional admissions officer, then it’s probably a good idea to ask them.

I can’t possibly envision why a sophomore would feel the need to contact a regional admissions officer. A senior, perhaps. A sophomore would be memorable for the wrong reasons.

^^ Exactly !!
