Is reading the red book actually useful?

-title-

I'm not sure whether it's better to do practice tests or just reading the book. i bought the book for the practice tests but i haven't really read the book.

There are actually some good tips in the book! If you have time, I would recommend doing at least a brief skim as well as doing the practice tests. c:

The read books greatest value comes from the fact that it uses actual ACT exams. The answer explanations are an added bonus as well. If you want strategy tips check out this book:

I would do both

Yes, it’s as useful as other books out there! What makes or breaks the usefulness of a study book is what you chose to do with it. Good luck!!!

I found Barron’s ACT 36 the most useful out of any test prep books I’ve ever used. Cracking was alright, and the red book’s tips were alright as well. I would read through the red book to introduce yourself to the strategies, Cracking for more strategy prep, and Barron’s to round everything out. If you don’t have time, skip Cracking and go straight to Barron’s 36. And, of course, the practice exams :)

Barron’s 36 was helpful in English but It didn’t help in Math, Science, I don’t know about reading.

Math was definately not helpful. What is your opinion? can you share you views on each section?

For english: I think Barrons did a good job on it.
math: didn’t read. :stuck_out_tongue:
reading: Not that useful but gave me some last min tips
science: i think the part for extreme questions are useful, other i dont think so.
