Is SAT Physics required for engineering applicants?

I applied ED for Penn engineering but I didnt take SAT Physics. I took AP Physics in school and got an A and a 5 on the mechanics AP, but since the class only went up to mechanics, I didn’t take the physics test. The engineering website says physics is recommended, and a lot of times recommended means required. Am I going to be at a disadvantage now?

Physics definitely matters. But it depends on which major you are applying I think and also you already took ap physics in school and on tests so it seems pretty good. There were rumors that the sats are reviewed by computers so unless later specifically checked by AOs, they’ll just look at the other parts of the package.

No you don’t need it. I’m a freshman in engineering at Penn, and I took SAT physics, but a lot of my engineering friends did not take it and still got in, for reasons very similar to yours. As long as you have a good physics background, you should be fine.
