I heard that the two are kind of related. I'm a senior and I signed up for AP Economics for my second semester this year because I originally wanted to major in economics, but since I'm majoring in accounting instead, I kind of wanted to change to regular. I heard that the AP class is a lot of work and the test content is really hard to study for (at least in my school), and I'd rather have more time to study for my other classes...but if it's important, then I'd be willing to stay in AP.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say most Accounting majors never took AP Econ. It might help you with your economics classes you have to take in college, but that’s it.

Math is far more important. Take the hardest classes you can.

I don’t think it’s worth it to take AP econ if you intend to major in accounting.

I don’t know if highland_poppy is referring to econ or accounting with math being important, but math in accounting is basic algebra. For econ, yes, math is more relevant.

My D is an accounting major at a top undergrad business school. She took AP Econ in HS. When she got to college, macro & micro Econ were required & it was the same textbook she used in HS for AP Econ. She was very glad to have taken the course in HS.

Yes, it is important. See above.

maybe for other accounting related classes yes, but on the standpoint of accounting i didnt take economics in high school and im a freshman at college with an A in accounting. Accounting has nothing to do with economics and in a sense math, yes you are moving numbers around but accounting is a lot of analytic thinking like where to move an account etc
