I'm sure it is. You guys have much better schools, more liberal states, more/better colleges, etc.

On the other hand, California sucks. We don't have anything.

Harvard-Westlake is the big prep school around here....and there's so many ignorant people running around elsewhere. And of course how could I forget pathetic little Ivy wannabe S***ford.

I can't wait until I get accepted SOMEWHERE on the east coast. I'm sick of California and everything it's governor stands for!!!

as a person who has lived on both coasts I can say with some certainty that east coasters are more "driven" and obnoxious whereas west coasters are laid back but nicer

I would say that southern CA may seem more laid back, but underneath it all, it is just as fast paced and "driven" as the east coast. They (east coasters) just don't know how to relax sometimes :p

now as for the OP, I have no idea what they were smoking. I would say that with something like the sixth largest economy in the world, hollywood (i.e. 90% of the world's movies), beautiful beaches and resorts, great weather year round, everything from mountains with winter resorts to deserts and coasts, and major technology centers of the world, saying that "we don't have anything" is a bit off...

true, but the governator is definetly "off"

being liberal is da bomb

we are outspoken optimists in the power of the human condition even in the face of a one-party conservative rule where the president is to the right of attila the hun and is a dumb drunk frat boy who crawled out from under a rock in texas and managed to get all of his benefits in life because of daddy's connections

he DISGUSTS me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It all depends on how you measure smartness. There are supposedly more Ph.D.s in the San Francisco Bay Area than anywhere else in the country, but many of those may have come from East Coast schools.

hahaha wow sempitern, a little bitter are we? Actually, I think Californians were pretty stupid to elect Arnold, and I'm generally on the side of the republican party.

But i would say that liberals are outspoken extremists... the conervatives are the silent extremists haha. It's all about the aurea mediocritas (golden mean). Being progressive is great, being liberal... not so much

In terms of the public school system, I've heard it's better over there. At least their budget per student was like 3 times that of my state.

I used to want to raise my future kids on the east coast because of this, but I don't know if it's so exclusively good enough to bear the east coast winters.

Harvard Westlake is definately not the only prep school in Cali. I am sure there are some great ones up north and in LA, you also have to consider Oakwood (my school), Brentwood and Campbell Hall.

California does need to revamp is public school system, however. California though sends tons of kids to Ivies as well as other great schools. 12% of the ED class to Columbia was from California. Stanford gets a ton of in state kids and so do the UC's.

haha stanford is not an ivy wannabe, it prides itself in being "cool and relaxed" vs "snobby elitist ivies" haha. stanford is awesome and a wonderful school....
