Is the May SAT Curve Easy?

So I've heard a lot of people say that the curve for the May SAT is easier than June, but I don't know how true is this. I think the explanation behind it is "smart" people take the SATs more in June to avoid having to study for them along with AP tests in May, while "less smart" people take them in May to avoid having to study at the end of the year.
When there are less top scorers, it skews the curve towards above-average scorers

I always thought it would be the other way around for some reason but idk. Can someone give me their thoughts on this

The curve has nothing to do with the people taking the test; it reflects only the relative difficulty of that particular test compared to other SATs.

IMO this one was easier than the practice tests, but let’s hope the curve is low! ):

well, math was easy, prompt was easy, CR and vocab were hard… It seemed like a fair SAT, I don’t think the curve will be unusually easy.

^^ Wow, direct opposite here. Thought CR was the easiest I’ve taken, but thought math was the hardest I’ve taken.

^ I thought CR was harder, math was easier, and writing was easier. Loved the Australian prompt too (success working alone vs collaborating)

Haha! We had that prompt here in Greece too.

I used Macbeth and the Greek Revolution as examples.

The curve will be SUPER harsh!

^ how comforting.

The curve is predetermined, so it doesn’t matter who takes the test.

I thought writing was incredibly easy. Math and CR, there were a few tough spots, but overall not too difficult of a test.

Oh come on you guys have to admit a lot of the CR was way too ambiguous. The fact that you have so many smart people arguing over answers in the CR thread, shows that some of them were just way too subjective.

WR was alright, prompt was easy.

That CR was very tough and I got a 770 on it in Jan when it had a very easy curve because it was hard. I dont expect to break 700 this time around. Thank god for superscores. Math definitely was easy. I am not a math person AT ALL. and scored 660 in Jan… hoping to break 700 if the curve doesnt work against me. Writing had some tricks, I hope I caught enough fo them to break 700 (or 750 in my dreams!!!)… but the essay will hurt me. It was good but not long enough, which frustrates me because I don’t want another eight, it’ll lower my MC subscore… a 9/10 will keep it the same I believe…

The test was pretty fair, with the CR being very ambiguous as usual. The SAT II Lit tests and AP lang MC I’ve been taking have been more straightforward.

I’m hoping for a 700-730 math, 710-750 writing (though I doubt it because SAT writing hates me even though grammar and writing are my fortes), and a 680-730 CR (but I already have a 770 in the bank!)

Math - easy.
Prompt - easy.
Writing - average.
Vocabulary - easy/average.
CR - difficult.

That’s my perception.

I thought the writing was a little harder than average… either I was over thinking things or the fact that I had a writing experimental and don’t know which one it was is freaking me out…

Bleh, I thought the sentence completions were pretty hard. The passages were not too difficult, except for the one on working at night.
Writing was kind of a joke.
And math was ridiculously hard. xD

Here is the curve:
http://www.erikthered.com/tutor/SAT-Released-Test-Curves.pdf

isnt the difficulty measured to other tests judged on how well people do tho? so if half of the normal top 1% doesnt take it it seems like the curve should be like 10 or 20 points better, at least when youre in the 700s

^according to that curve chart may has been judged as hard twice and average 3 times, never easy
maybe the theory has some validity?

No. They want people to get the same scores on any given test, so they wouldn’t adjust it based on who is taking it that month. The curve is predetermined.

math was easy/average, leaning to easy
CR was definitely harder, even than january
Writing was average/harder leaning toward harder because of certain tricks here and there.

Personally thought math was average
writing average leaning towards easy
critical reading was hard. I think it’ll be one of those tests were -2 is still an 800
