The title pretty much sums it up. I am asking this question because I recently have had remarkable success on the Critical Reading portions in the PSAT booklets. However, through my time on CC, the general consensus has espoused the idea that the PSAT is easier than the SAT. Although I am fairly confident that there is no decisive evidence (right?), I am curious to hear your arguments. So what are your opinions on the difficulty levels between the PSAT and the SAT?

Questions that show up on the PSAT are difficult enough to appear on the SAT. Questions that show up on the SAT are difficult enough to show up on the PSAT. For example, the 2010 Wednesday test was lifted from an SAT administered in 2005 or 2006 (if you look up the 2010 Form W thread, you’ll find it).

For math, I always thought the PSAT only went up to like Algebra I with maybe a little Algebra II but the SATs went all the way through Algebra II and Geometry. For CR and Writing, I’m not really sure. However, no matter the difficulty of the questions, the PSAT will be easier because it is about half the length of the SAT and doesnt have an essay.

This is just my anecdote, but i went from 76 PSAT CR to 700 SAT CR. I think both tests are identical, the curve is just harsher on the PSAT

^How far apart were those tests?

For me, the PSAT was hard. I usually do better on the SAT because more questions means less weight per question.

PSAT soph year- 185
PSAT Junior- 215
SAT- 2200 :DDDDDD
