Juilliard? Is it safe to assume that it's as good as the "super" top tier music conservatories around the world? Thanks :P (or is it as selective? I heard it selects under 10% Of auditionees.)

doensn't anybody know!!

Hello,

I wouldn't really compare the two- one is a university based BM program the other is a conservatory program. Obviously the priorities of the students and school will differ amongst both.

fyi- jeremybeach. music admission decisions are (should be) posted on minerva. good luck

so..um..they're not online, and i don't know what to think!

check again tomorrow morning, they are putting them up in batches. good luck

oh GAHHH now i'm nervous :-'( :-'( :-'( I have a bad feeling about this one lol.

good luck. don't know you, but i can tell you want this.

haha thanks Tasnia. Yes, McGIll is such a beautiful school and i'd kill to get in. Plus, montreal is AH just amazing. So, we'll have to see :P

My violin teacher's wife is a graduate of Julliard. Is she a good musician? Yes. Is her husband, who graduated from Ball State, just as good? Yes.

Musicians can suck, no matter where they go to school. They can be great, no matter where they go to school.

What redknight said is absolutely true: musicians should not be judged on where they went to school. However, it's fair to say schooling helps a lot. I have a friend who goes to Juilliard and knows people in McGill, and I'm a musician myself, so I looked into both schools (though my lack of sight reading ability has forced me to pursue the music department from the Faculty of Arts). Ultimately, while McGill has an insanely good music program, Juilliard's is better. And it has a better rep, though McGill's carries a lot of weight too.

By the way, despite it's superior reputation, according to my friend, around 90% of Juilliard students do not go on to pursue a career in music.

:OOOO so much for the 26th, the 27th, or even today lol. The decision still says "ready for review." and i don't know how long that's going to take! AHH! I"M GOING IN SAIGNE! i mean, insane.

What instrument do you play?

i'm voice. yeah, the decisions are STILL not posted, so i'm beginning to wonder what sources gave rideltrain that march 26th was the date lol. it just says "ready for review." so it'll be a loooooooooooong ride.

jeremybeach. decisions were posted this week to my knowledge- you should call the admissions office on monday if you do not hear anything.

lol this is really weird because i know about 10 applicants to schulich and none of them found out.

you're really freaking over mcgill jeremybeach ;)

indeed :P 10 char

maybe thsi means i didn't get in lol

to my knowledge acceptances have gone out for music- I know of several people in the voice program that have received their acceptances already.
