I've heard of people who got into UCSD with 1420 SATs and a 3.7 GPA and even lower than that. I've seen that UCSD has made admission errors before, So I was wondering if its possible they made another mistake this year.

I’ve thought about that too…with my stats (4.19 weighted gpa, 1780 SAT) UCSD seemed like a total reach for me yet i still made it in.
i was beyond delighted, yes, but it almost seemed too good to be true. My community service and extracurricular activities were decent although, so i like to think that that’s what saved me.
Were you rejected/waitlisted?

i am pretty shocked i got into ucsd too…i felt like they made a mistake LOL
4.18 uc gpa and 29 act/community service, 2 years of sports, few clubs, decent essays??

I’ve also heard of people getting into Berkeley with similar stats. However, those individuals usually came from disadvantaged communities and held some pretty amazing leadership positions.

That being said, obviously not every single application was necessarily reviewed correctly.

I got accepted. 3.67 unweighted and 1980 SAT. However, my stats seemed a bit low compared to the rest who had applied (excluding those I have mentioned.) Of course, I shouldn’t be questioning a good thing, but yeah, it just seemed too good to be true. I’m really really hoping that this is not another mistake.

If you’re accepted, i doubt they’ll be able to reject you unless you do badly on your senior year grades. We don’t know what’s going on in the admission’s officer’s head when he’s making his decision. Just accept that it’s a good thing and be thankful.

But if your stats are really that low, just remember that most other students here are “smarter” than you so you’ll have to work your tail off to pull out good grades. Congrats :)
