Is there a difference between an A and a A+

Hey everyone at CC,
I am just wondering for college transcripts, is there a difference between an A and a A+. I am not sure, because at my school we use A+, and I am afraid that simply because I got an A instead of an A+, my class rank will drop, and I seem un-competitive. I do realize that I am paranoid, but I would like some consultation on the matter.

Depends on the college as to whether A+ is higher than A when calculating GPA.

Note, however, that professional schools recalculate GPA by their own methods. Medical schools consider A+ = A, but law schools consider A+ > A (and medical and law schools’ valuations of +/- differ from each other).

But yes, if you school uses letter grades with + and -, then those who got the + will be higher than those who didn’t if your school reports rank.
