Is there a Difference in Pre-Law and Legal studies?

Considering possible minors...
If theres a difference.....what is it?

I'm guessing pre-law is geared to those looking at law school. Legal studies would be suited for those not looking at law school, but seek a basic study of law/the legal process.

Is there really a pre-law minor?

uhh some do

Normally pre-law is a group of classes required/recommended for law school, not a minor. Legal studies minor would be made up of classes your undergrad school decided upon. The website or you advisor can give you the specific info.

I don't know about 'legal studies', but prospective law students are STRONGLY discouraged from majoring in pre-law. It's usually not a rigorous major.

If you want to be a lawyer, study something else.

If students are "strongly discouraged from majoring in pre-law," then what should they major in?

It actually doesn't matter what they major in, as long as they get fantastic grades. Philosophy majors typically do very well on the LSATs. A lot of students major in Political Science or History. If you major in something a little odd you might stand out more. But basically, major in whatever you're talented in.

Go to the law school form, they can give you more info about that.
