I was wondering if there is a UC Disabled Application that I could apply through so they might go easier on grading me. I have ADD and Dyslexia, and i want the UC's to take my SAT scores/essay into consideration with that. Thank you.

If you are UC-eligible (3.0 or more UC GPA, SAT or ACT w/writing, twp SAT subject tests, all A-G completed by end of Sr, year), use the “additional comments” section after the essays to explain your special circumstances.

If you are not UC-eligible, fill out the same application, but your essays need to focus on your special circumstance and you must to contact each campus to which you are applying to let them know you are applying for “Eligibility by Exception.”

there are dozens and dozens of students with Learning Disabilities at each UC. And classes are huge often 300 students.

Once admissions sees the side note on ur app about ur LD they should take ur sat scores with a grain of salt and then put more emphasis on your GPA to see if you can handle college level course-work. A disability should not be the reason a school rejects you. So if you have strong transcripts then SAT scores shouldn’t hold you back.

Once admitted make sure you contact and register with the school’s disability office right away to get priority registration etc.

Most likely they’d offer you some combination of extended time for exams, separate test taking space, possibly a note-taker.

So just know UC’s and the profs aren’t going to hold your hand. And you’ll have to advocate for yourself fighting with the disability office to process paperwork ontime etc.

But if you could handle h.s. AP classes then you should be up to the workload, it’s definitely doable. Good Luck :D
