Is there any way I can improve my chances for UIUC after being deferred?

They don’t for any additional info or grades. What should I do to improve my chances of acceptance? Applied as a bioengineering major.

Talk to you GC…it may make sense for them to call your HS’s AO to express that you are still interested and will attend if admitted. Do that only if you would attend.

I believe a GC calling in is allowed, whereas applicants sending additional info, or a LOCI is on the list of things not to do/send. What does your deferral letter say?

Good luck.

The only things UIUC really allows after you are deferred EA is a new ACT or SAT test score for a test taken after you applied EA or corrections of applications if incorrect information was given when the student applied. It does not want any “the student is still interested” communications from anyone, including a high school counselor. The likely result of a counselor calling admissions to express the student’s continuing interest is that the conversation will not be communicated to anyone who actually makes the admission decision.

Bioengineering is one of the hardest majors to get into. That you were deferred means you are still being considered so you still have a chance. However, many who apply for bio, even with high stats, are not accepted, although a large percentage of those are still admitted for a second choice major or Division of General Studies.
