Is there still hope for me?

Hey guys, I currently live in NY, and missed the application deadline of Dec 1st.

Reason being, my parents received job offers end of dec so I did not know I'd be moving until then!

I saw this online..

"I just posted this on Twitter, too, but I need your help. I mentor a HS student who is in the top 3% of his class... but he missed the deadline. The kid made a mistake and now we're trying for damage control. I would love to talk with you ASAP. BTW - I'm a grad student at the McCombs Business School. Hook 'em!"

"Greg Johnson I just spoke with someone at admissions and they said there is an exception process for which he has to fill out a paper application and provide an explanation about why he missed the deadline. Can you please tell me where he needs to send the documents to and to whom he needs to address his application packet?"

Then:

"A paper app may be downloaded at College For All Texans: Publications.

The app should be sent to the attention of the Appeals Committee at the following address.

The University of Texas at Austin
Office of Admissions
Attn: Appeals Committee
PO Box 8058
Austin, TX 78713"

So can I still apply to UT Austin?

The more I read about this school, the more I feel it is the PERFECT fit for me, being from a diverse/liberal NY area!!

Any hope?

Your family’s relocation could be a good enough reason to persuade them to review your late application. But why don’t you call the Admissions Office on Monday to find out? The online anecdote sounds legit and the quoted advice reasonable, but you don’t know all the facts and circumstances of that scenario–so it’s risky to rely on it without checking for yourself.

Note, the Admissions Office is telling people decisions will be released February 15 (instead of the published “end of February”). This means they are very deep in the review process. I suggest you move quickly! And good luck!

I will call first thing Monday when I get home from school!!
