Does anyone have any past experience with the admissions appeals process and how successful or not that has been in the past?? Maybe some of you parents out there who have older kids who applied and got CAP'd??
Thank you so much.

Yes-my oldest was at first denied and then called and spoke to his admissions counselor and asked for an appeal. He had to write a letter showing new strengths, also found and obtained a strong recommendation letter (focus on someone who does a lot for UT) . Next request a summer start time so that you can take summer classes this summer if the above doesn’t work. Next if that doesn’t work, do what a couple hundred another students do- live at one of the private dorms, girls-Hardin or university towers and do fall classes at ACC and transfer in the spring. If you’re a guy you can still do round up and pledge and if you’re a girl and want to rush, Hardin is full of girls to get to know before the next fall rush.

My friend is also trying to appeal but to enter the business school :). I wonder if higher SAT scores, more awards and an amazing letter are enough? More leadership positions and extra-curricular activities?

Carmom: Thanks so much for the info! Did your son get in after he appealed??

Yes. Not a lot get a reversal but it does happen!

Carmom: That’s wonderful. Thanks for the information! Congrats to your son!!

@pmartin - did you guys appeal your decision? Has there been any further information yet if so?

Disregard - Received our second rejection in the mail today after one of their not so bright counselors told D over the phone that they weren’t reviewing appeals until April.

So should I just wait until April to send in my appeal stuff? What kind of stuff is everyone sending? (like higher SAT/ACT scores or awards or experience)
