Is this 17 credits look hard?and MAJOR decision

Hello everyone, I am a CCC student looking to transfer to hopefully UCB, or UCLA, but will definitely settle for something like UCSB.

One of my problems is that I am unsure of my major, I came in thinking I would be a mathematics major, and then in my first semester I took a Economics course as well. I loved this class and was my only A for the semester (except some 1 credit class). I ended last semester with a UC Transferable of 3.31. I know this is not yet close to UCB OR UCLA standards so I need to raise this quick.

Another Major I am considering quite a bit is Geology, I have never taken a course but I do know I love the outdoors and would lose to work outside in an exciting career. In this case I would do Geophysics and would have to take a ton of courses.

As I understand, the beginning of college is to figure out what I want to major in, and I am trying desperately hard to do so, but can not seem to.

Here are my classes:

Pre Calculus: 5
English: 4
Geology: 4
Geology field trip: 1
Economics Micro (took macro already): 3

So what do you all think? I am also considering dropping the english and taking spanish, but then I will behind.

That schedule looks pretty normal… 4 real classes isn’t usually considered excessive.

But in your situation… you said your GPA isn’t where you want it to be. Can you figure out what caused problems last semester? Did you just slack off a little? Do you struggle in certain subjects? Did you not have enough time? If it boils down to a time problem, it might be better to lighten up your schedule, so you can focus more on the classes you are taking. (If time wasn’t an issue last semester, I’d leave the schedule as-is.)

Its definitely doable. During the Fall 2013 semester I had a pretty similar schedule to yours (Precalc, Geog, Geog lab, Spanish, English, Art) which was 20 units and I still did well. Time management is key…

easy man.

I took:

comparative politics
Geology
honors world religions
college algebra
communications

got all A’s, you can do it and maybe even one more

Yeah, shouldn’t be a problem going to need a near perfect for Berk/LA though.

Also, I’m an economics major at Cal and I love it; if you are considering going that route.

Definitely doable OP.
