If you go here https://studentonboarding.app.clemson.edu/# and enter your XID from your application confirmation email (where it says, "Please note your Application ID (XID): " it will either let you enter or you’ll get an error “Unable to determine your acceptance status.” So - my question is, is it the same id from that email? Does this work? If so, I didn’t get in.
A few years ago one of the elite schools (it was either MIT or Harvard, I forget) discovered that some applicants found a way to “cheat” and see their admissions status. That violated their honor code and the accepted students’ offers were rescinded. Just sayin’
How do you violate an honor code you haven’t pledged yet? lol
If you are accepted you are expected to not cheat. They got the boot. Here is the story. Probably way before your time, but still poignant http://www.rediff.com/money/report/hack/20050310.htm
Rumors, rumors. Don’t scare the poor guy. Maybe it’s a glitch, maybe just a work in progress. Until notified by the school, nothing is for sure. I know it’s hard, but hold on tight…best of luck!
That was NOT a rumor, @ThinkOn. Read the link.
I said “cheat” in the title. What I’m suggesting isn’t “cheating” in the sense you’re referring to. I think you’re really stretching it. I shouldn’t have used that word leaving it open to that connotation. The website I linked is open and available to all. It would be breaking no violation of any kind to try your user name there. I’m not hacking a database or bribing officials. As I said, I think you’re getting really carried away. But I appreciate your concern. I did a search and found this exact suggestion on here already too.
@ThinkOn thank you for your rational response and well wishes.
You said you were cheating. I took you at your word. Don’t cheat.
@jym626 this is a strong accusation. Where did I say I was cheating? And what did I say I was cheating at? I don’t appreciate this one bit nor do I appreciate you polluting my post with this. I reported you.
You just said it in the post above. No one is accusing you of anything just responding to your post above. How do you know that that portal would let you enter if you were admitted versus give you an error message if you were not? I’m guessing probably someone was able to enter the portal and you were not.good luck to you wherever you end up.
Sigh… Again. Public website. Not Hacking. Anyone could try this. Public knowledge. Clemson knows this.
For anyone who would remotely be tuning in to this post now veered entirely off track by weird accusations (I’ve now reported twice) of “cheating” in some dishonorable way/breaking an honor code… What I was effectively asking is if this is the website admitted people have signed into. I’m sorry if I offended people and am ok with this post being removed since it’s so pointless now.
Or… feel free to keep PMing me with your responses and questions since this one has been hijacked.
If Clemson didn’t send you a link with instructions on how to check your status, they might consider it cheating. The link appears to be an app, NOT an official Clemson site. If someone else figured out how to hack their website and you use the app, you are hacking the website. It appears that colleges take that quite seriously, so I wouldn’t do it.
Where did you get the link? If it came from an outside, unknown source, I’d be less concerned with your status at Clemson and more concerned about the security status of your own computer.
