I'm new here and I have no idea if I'm posting in the right section but I can't learn without trying so yeah. I'm going to high school next year. Is this a good schedule? Do you recommend me to add/minus something?

Is Earth Science required? Could you take biology instead?
If you want to get ahead in math and take calculus senior year, I would suggest taking geometry freshman year too.

Earth Science and Algebra are required if you I don’t take them this year. I chose not to take them this year because I’m not really that good at math and science. I’m taking biology and geometry next year

Personally I think it looks a bit easy, but that is just my opinion. You should really consider taking bio, many colleges require one year of bio, physics and chem (or strongly recommend it), not taking it freshman year may hurt you in the long run.

I second ArtsyGirl13. I think it depends what college you are looking at. I’m a freshman right now and top colleges require you to be in the hardest classes possible. Not being in the hardest classes could hurt your GPA in the long run, if you decide to take AP Calc or not…

I disagree, don’t take geometry…algebra is fine; most high schools won’t allow you to take geometry without having had taken algebra as a prerequisite, plus if you have to take algebra II the year after geometry after having skipped algebra, you’ll be extremely lost.
HORRIBLE IDEA.

Depends on how scheduling works at the school. We have block scheduling where I live so here you can take Algebra I first semester and Geometry second semester. Or Geometry and Algebra II the next year in the same way, which is what I did.

Still, if you don’t take geometry this year, I think you should take both geometry and Algebra II next year. Because you don’t really need geometry to be able to understand Algebra II…some schools actually place it before geometry.

It’s impossible for me to take Biology or Geometry freshman year [I’m required to take algebra and geometry. I didn’t take those classes this year] but here is how it works out
9th grade- earth science and algebra
10th grade-biology and geometry
11th grade-chemistry and algebra 2
12th grade- physics and calculus

So there’s no pre-calculus?

Basically every high school will require that you take pre-calc and trig before you take calc. I understand that you have to take earth science, but can you take it senior year instead?

Algebra 2 is combined with Trigonometry so it’s Algebra 2/Trigonometry. As for Earth Science, I don’t think I am allowed to do that, neither am I interested in it. I will be in a class with all freshmen as senior.

Why can’t Earth Science and Biology be taken at the same time? They’re not really related.

I don’t know, but I wouldn’t do that, I would get too confused since they are both science classes. I’m not going to take advanced Science classes if I’m not good at Science, I actually think my schedule is good now, I’m in three honors. Plus, I have fun electives.

Your schedule is fine, but can you take Math & Science honors? Earth Science is super easy. If you don’t want to take math honors, that’s fine. I hated Algebra, and honors made it worse.

I went to 2 high schools, and in both, I could skip pre cal, and go straight to Cal. If by then, you feel you could do it, then do it. But don’t worry about that right now.

When I was a freshman, I took AP World History. Have you thought about that? Most of my friends took AP World. I feel like it’s a good intro to AP.

I’m not good at science, I’m going to take regular Earth Science. I’m not going to take an AP class in ninth grade, but I’ll take AP World next year.

Can’t you take bio in a non AP form? Most schools offer honors bio and/or a regular bio class in addition to AP bio…

They do offer regular biology. When I was talking about not taking AP, I was talking about AP World
