My counselor was contacted by them that I was missing a teacher recommendation, and my app was incomplete without it. We got it sorted out and my teacher resubmitted it, but would they have gone to the trouble to contact me if I had been rejected? Does this mean that they want to accept me, but can't without the letter?

No, it means your teacher rec was missing and they needed it to review your app.

I actually think it is a good sign. I know of other schools that would not notify and just not consider your application.

livesinnewjersey is simply wrong here. It has no effect, positive or negative.

@CSIHSIS Thanks for your input! I see by looking at your profile that you’re an admissions officer, not a washed-up college student with nothing better to do than accumulate 3000 posts on a website designed for high schoolers, so thanks so much for your opinion. Not just once but twice! Lucky me :)

I c wut u did thur

Ah well, at least I go to Georgetown.

It means nothing.

^That’s just like, your opinion, man.

(Reality: it’s a fact.)

From what I understand, the way it works is that some schools have a policy of notifying applicants when they have something missing while others don’t. For example, Davidson and Carleton College didn’t receive my certification of finances so they mailed me asking for it while Wesleyan has a policy of not mailing anyone and maintains that the student is responsible for the completion of his app. As a result, I only noticed my CoF was missing a few days back. It’s possible that some schools’ policies fall between these two areas and they will only mail the applicants they like. It’s also possible Georgetown is among these schools. Just go to their website and check their policy under “after you apply” or “admission materials”. Worth noting that I don’t know of a single school that selectively reminds.

For what it’s worth, for next years applicants, I was accepted yesterday. Take from that what you will!

Congratz on that! Will you share your profile please?

Old thread, but GU emailed me that they didn’t receive my scores. And despite what @trenchlord said Wesleyan called me saying they were missing my mid year. I will post back if I actually get admitted to either of these schools.
