Hey I just received some stuff from U.Va. Engineering and it included a letter that starts with:

"I know what you're...what I can say is that the U.Va. Admission Office sent me your name as a student who is one of our strongest 2008 applicants to the U.Va.'s SEAS. Congratulations on all your success in and out of the classroom!

My guess is that, you will soon be receiving acceptances from some of the finest engineering schools in the country. Let me tell you what..."

I sounds somewhat like a likely letter, but I still don't know if it is, or if it's something E-school specific. What do you guys think?

Hate to say this and don’t know why UVA would sent that letter in less you’re in, but it sounds too indirect to be a “likely”. Is there any more specific language in the letter? If not, maybe the Engineering Department should have someone in the English Dept. rewrite the letter for them. Still, congrats–I bet you’re in

Regardless, it sounds like a really nice letter to have under your belt and I’m not real sure why they would send it out so close to decision time unless it were a LL. I hope it is and you get in. Got to keep the positive Karma rolling!
