Does taking a class at the local community college count as an EC? idk where else that would go in the common app

I think that it definitely does - you are voluntarily spending time outside of school to enrich yourself. Definitely mention it!

It doesn’t. In the academics tab there is a box that says “Colleges and Universities” and also says “If you have taken any courses at a College or University for credit, check this box.”

It doesn’t show the courses, but you should send them a transcript from the community college.

Curricular = of or relating to a curriculum
Curriculum = courses offered by an educational institution
Extra curricular = other than curricular

So no. But you should certainly mention that you have taken the initiative to take the course there.

^Agreed. There are other places to mark that.

@MrZapz

I cant seem to find it in the new app

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/docs/downloadforms/CommonApp2011.pdf

I found it under “Colleges and Universities” on the third page. I’m pretty sure those classes can count as a “program”

Oh ok thanks!

Do I have to send in transcripts? (as in, do colleges expect it?)

It’s more than colleges expecting it; when applying to college, you are required to send transcripts from any accredited college you have ever taken a course at. Community colleges count, even if you just took a class there during high school.

really?

lol

That means I can’t fail :)
