Is this letter of rec worth it?

I've read mixed things about sending in letters of rec from alumni that are (biologically) unrelated to you.

I recently found out that one of my friends and colleagues is an alumnus at the college I'm applying to for transfer. He is currently a professor at a local community college, and he has worked with me on professional projects (most notably, an independent film that I am starring in and that he also acted in and provided sets for).

Would it be a good, bad, or neutral idea to have him write me a letter of recommendation or phone the admissions office or any other measure at all?

Have him write a letter by all means if you want one from him. Call the school and talk about you? No.

You would send it if you’d also send it if he didn’t go to that college. In other words, if the activity is noteworthy enough to warrant an extra letter of from him.
