Is this purely just for additional information?

Hi _________,

My name is Mr. Cornell and I am a Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador. I just wanted to reach out to you to see if you would like to set up an informational meeting in person to discuss the university and to see if I can answer any questions you might have regarding the admissions process. If you would like to meet up, please let me know a few good times and dates for you. I am free in the afternoons this week, as well as all weekend. You can just reply back to this email, or give me a call at 1-800-The-Law-2.

i am guessing all or many of you got an email similar to mine. how long does this usually take?

its the same as most other interviews - around an hour. and no, it's not just purely informational. they send in a little report to the school to be considered with the rest of your application

so this is an interview? i thought it was just an informational meeting to answer any questions i had about cornell

Cornell stresses that its not an interview and completely optional, but it can be considered one if you think that'll make you do better during the meeting. Even though they'll submit something, the role that it plays in your decision is probably significantly smaller if you're not applying for the schools that require an interview such as the Hotel school. As long as you don't royally screw up, you'll be fine.
