Is transferring possible for me at this time?

hey everyone, i am currently a sophomore at my CC and close to finishing the IGETC. I want to major in Psychology/Neuroscience once i transfer but Im wondering if thats even possible without having math or eng101 completed at the time I apply. I do have a 3.5 and an upward trend as well as a few EC's. Do you think this will really hurt my chances even though ill have the classes finished by the time of transfer?

It’s best to have your English, math, and core major prereqs completed by the end of Fall term (you are required to submit an Application Update to the UCs and give them your Fall/Winter grades). For competitive majors like Psych/Neuroscience, having the grades for core requirements will give you a better advantage.

Have you finished your pre-reqs? And yes it would be better if you had at least one math or English class by the end of fall.

I havent completed all pre reqs yet, but i will have them done the semester prior to transferring. I expect my gpa to be at least a 3.7 by then as well.

no math, no admission. this last go around UCSB and UCSD were rejecting people that didn’t have math done by the fall semester(ridiculous). probably get away w/o the eng 101 depending on what school you are shooting for. I got into UCSD missing 4 prereqs.

and I mean IGETC math, not pre req math.

@sanitydc, no way missing 4 prereqs. that is ridiculous. You probably worked your ass out once you get there right? What major are you?

UCSD TAG will allow you to be admitted even if you have no pre-reqs completed, as long as IGETC is finished. In addition, if the major you pick is non-impacted, then you could have almost zero pre-reqs done and still get in.

Can anyone confirm SanityDC’s claim? UCSB is my first choice so thats not good to hear lol. But sanity im also interested what major you are and the pre reqs you had missing. Also what are your thoughts on 3 year CC transfer?

Bumppppppppppp

Call the UCSB admissions office directly to verify. Lots of students transfer after 3 or 4 years, there is no stigma attached to that.
