Okay...so i'm hopefully going to USC, so this shouldnt matter (will find out very soon, but I have to ask this!)

Are you required a year of english to transfer uc to uc? I assume that you do, and because if this if I am not admitted I have to take the last quarter english (English 1C) here at UC Riverside in the summer time.

Can anyone shed any light on this situation? I really dont want to take summer school, but in the event that I do not get into USC, then I suppose I have to take this class to fulfill transfer reqs?

When you say major pre reqs, do you mean have all of my breadth requirements for CHASS completed or have all the "lower division requirements for the psychology major" completed?? AND also, I read something on the UCLA website that says they recommend that I finish all of the breadth requirements of UCR and I would be exempt from UCLA's breadth requirements.. Did you finish allll of your breadth requirements hobo??

lower divisions for ur psych major should be fine. and yeah if u finish everything at UCR ur done at UCLA and every other UC. BTW, Psych and sociology is easy to transfer into.. my friend had a 3.55 gpa and got into sociology from UCR.

darn... I decided kind of late to apply for transfer so I wasn't strictly following my breadth requirements page for CHASS.. would other UC's be nice if I had like 5 breadth classes left and just let me take classes that are equivalent to those at the school which I would transfer to and not make me start all over with breadth requirements??

Well, you are required to take the English classes that you need to graduate, they are your GE requirements, unless you got 4's/5's on BOTH ap english lang and ap english lit. if you got that on only one, you need to take 1 semester. if you got it on none, you need to take 2 semesters, from that i understand.

hey hobo, sorry to keep bothering you with this question, but if I finish my major required classes, does that mean I won't have to "start over" with anything at another UC??

have no idea, i think you might get credit but i know some schools don't accept 3's...

=[ so if they don't accept it, then I guess I have to go backwards with my english curriculum??

OHHH and almost forgot, I understand that all the units for the classes I took at UCR will transfer over to another UC, but will I get to continue off of my current gpa or will I have to start from 0.00??

ohh coool~ and did your friend who was a sociology major and transferred, finish all of his/her "lower division requirements for the sociology major" and not have to start over with anything at his current school??

not too sure... all i know is that sociology very little requirements. My friend was acutally a business major but he took some soc classes and got them fulfilled.

hobo, you said yes - but where did you read it? the UC transfer site says this:

Complete the following course pattern requirements, earning a grade of C or better in each course: Two transferable college courses (3 semester or 45 quarter units each) in English composition

i think they mean 2 semester courses of english which = 3 quarter courses of english... i know for a fact that UCSD, UCLA and UCD have something similiar to our English 1a, b, c series so im assuming u have to complete the whole series to get credit.

ugh ugh ugh well I'll call them tomorrow, but it says 3 semester quarters for each of the two or 4-5 quarter units. but we'll see! i hope i dont have to take it. . .

if you transfer, you don't have to start over because all the courses transfer along with you. All of the UC's will honor the AP credits. In the UC system a 3 on AP Lit exempts you from 1 semester, and a 4/5 on AP Lang exempts you from the 2nd semester, and this is the same for the quarter system.
