Hello there and thank you for taking time to read this post. I am relatively new to college confidential. I was rejected from Notre Dame EA, which was my first choice school. I am now thinking Michigan might be my first choice, but I haven't visited yet and really have no idea what kind of chances I have for acceptance. No one from my high school has ever applied to Michigan before so I don't have a good perspective on where I stand within the applicant pool. I just send in my app today. Here are my stats:

4.1 uw GPA (4.33 scale)- I never gotten less than an A-, so from what I have read, I think my Michigan GPA is 4.0
rank 9/250 at rural, public high school (top 3-4%)
2070 on SAT (730 CR, 590 M, 750 W), 29 ACT
I think my extracurriculars are pretty good (President of NHS, President of Student Council, captain of dance team, forensics, hospital volunteer....)
Out of State- from Wisconsin, applying to LSA

I would appreciate any input. Is U.Mich a reach or a match? Also, I really would like to live in the Martha Cook Building if I go to U.Mich. Does anyone have any knowledge about it? Thanks so much!

You have a great GPA and decent test scores. You are above the 50% range for GPA and test scores. But you are an out-of-state applicant and you applied pretty late. If you had applied a few months ago, in for sure. But since you just did it today, it's hard to predict. If I were in your position, I'd make sure I had some other options lined up.

i think your chances are pretty decent. test scores are in their range for median scores except for your math sat score (but i suppose it's a bit late to retake eh?). your activities are also pretty good - good leadership and such. i would say overall you've got a decent shot at getting in!

Martha Cook has probably the best location on the entire campus. Kinda known as a virgin vault, strict rules regarding males, you get served meals I think which is pretty sweet, and everything is just kind of traditional. If you really liked Notre Dame, it's probably your style. If you want the full college experience though, I'd stay away. I think there's something to be said for 15-person co-ed parties in the male quad on 4th floor in south quad saturday nights....not that I ever have those. But yeah, thats what I know about it.
