I want to go to UC Davis, and I think I have a pretty good chance, but I heard that it’s pretty boring. I like the city, so I would prefer UCLA, but I’m not sure if I can get admitted there. So, anyone at/was at UC Davis, how is it? What’s the campus life like, and what can you do in the area?
no
there are so many club and activities on and around campus, if you get bored - it is on you.
Sacramento is 20 min away and SF is about 90.
No, but boring is as boring does. There are plenty of activities in and around the Davis area. It is only boring if you let be boring.
Tahoe/Reno is 2 hrs away, Napa 45 min- 1 hour away.
As I always say in these kinds of threads, finding Davis boring says much more about the person than the town.
If you just can’t live without the constant city life for four years though, Davis isn’t for you. But as others have said, there’s city life around if you’re just looking for some city life but don’t need to actually live in it.
The great thing about Davis is the college town surrounding it. It’s very quaint and super easy to maneuver on her bike. It’s a bike town.
My dd was always going somewhere and doing something. She did whitewater rafting, kayaking, hiking in the local area. She visited Berkeley and SF a little too frequently. She spent money and time on the ski lifts at Tahoe.
I don’t think she was ever bored.
If you look for fun, you’ll find the fun. I know people who would go skiing every other weekend in Tahoe or go around the city visiting various eateries and people who stay in their rooms gaming all day. In both cases, their lifestyle was their choice and they are satisfied with it.
Definitely apply to both. Davis is small but San Francisco, Sac, and lots of mountains and rivers are close by. Can’t go wrong with UCLA, though if you like the city.
