When you go out into the job field with a Biology degree from UC Irvine, and you have plenty of internship/research experience, will employers respect you as a candidate?

I'm a bio major (med school for grad) and I was just wondering if med schools and employers respect UCI as a school.

I got into UCSD and UCD and UCI, and got late admit to UCB, but I honestly love UCI the most. But I have to think of what's best for me in terms of my goals.

Would going to UCB or UCSD- with so much competition, so little opportunity, and a mismatched personality for me, but plenty of prestige, make that big of a difference?

I genuinely love UCI - the city, the campus, the Bio program, the people, and the size...

Well I'm not a Bio major, but from what I've heard, GPA > Prestige for Med School. If you really like UCI, I'd say go there; your GPA will be higher for med school, and you will enjoy yourself. :D

omg jhuscla go to berkeley please lol. you're gonnna eat us all up -_-

I have heard first-hand that the biology program at irvine is super hard, almost at the same level as those of berkeley, la, and sd. dude if this is the case, i think davis might be the better choice for me. i really dont wanna flunk out of college :/

just go to Irvine if you really want to. It's a great school. I'm sure you won't regret it. Definitely one of my top choices, but I had to turn it down for my #1 choice, UCSD.

selenablack, all the biology programs you've listed have so many opportunities for you. You can't even begin to imagine because you're still in high school. The biology programs at all the schools you've listed are all competitive, hard, and well respected. If you love UCI that much, I recommend you come to UCI because it'll make you happy. There is a lot of opportunities in research and hospital volunteering, especially because UCI is in Orange County. (However, it would be just as plentiful anywhere else).

After years of experience, your alma mater becomes less important. While medical schools do recognize the prestige of other colleges, but they only care about what you've done, not where you're from. I hope this helps.
