I’m looking to go to University of Washington for their nursing program and was wondering whether getting your BSN starts freshman year or if you apply to it your sophomore year to get into it your junior year. Thanks for the help!
They are both direct admission and not. Very few applicants get direct admission their freshmen year, especially in nursing because it is one of UW’s most competitive degrees. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get direct admission, you will just apply to the nursing department in your sophomore year like most other people.
So if i did get accepted freshman year i wouldnt have to wait until junior year to start working towards my BSN correct?
I’m not 100% sure about that since you will have to finish your pre recs, but you most likely be start working towards it a lot sooner than students who apply in their junior year.
You won’t be able to come in as a direct admit to the nursing program your freshman year. You’d have to first take the pre-requisites at UW, do well (!), and then apply to the program officially in your sophomore year. Then you’d finish the BSN for the last two years. It is definitely a competitive program and requires some strong essays and background in healthcare (this is something you can start early).
Good luck!
