Nursing School

Ok so I looked on U of W's nursing school website and I am freaking out because I am definitely not within their admission requirements. So, I am wondering do you get into the actual school, and then apply to the undergraduate nursing school in your sophomore year of college?

The requirements seem really ridiculous for a high school graduate. Like hundreds of hours of health care experience and some specific classes. It seems more likely to be requirements for after your sophomre year of college, but I'm not sure. Could anyone please help me?

So my main question really is...do you apply to their school of nursing directly as a high school senior? or do apply to the school directly and then apply to their nursing school as a college sophomore?

Please reply!! I really really want to go to UW (it's my 1st choice!), and am worried that I now can't.

From what I can tell from this (<a href="http://www.son.washington.edu/eo/bsn_admission.asp)%5B/url%5D">http://www.son.washington.edu/eo/bsn_admission.asp)</a>, you can apply at both times. I know nothing about the nursing school and I'm really not sure about that, so look at the website for yourself and give the school a call.

I've read the website thoroughly, and have read the requirements for their BSN program. It's just that the requirements seem too much. Like, you have to have at least 100 hours of health care volunteer experience and most have hundreds and hundreds of hours. And things like that.

I guess that is what their admission requirements are for freshman. I just thought I may be wrong, but guess not.

Yes. From what I read on the website, I am pretty sure that those are their requirements for freshmen. BUT, I think they are the same requirements for UW sophomores, so if you cannot meet the requirements before then, I think that you will be able to apply as a sophomore. It seems to me that this is the "expected" track for nursing school students, and that freshman direct admission is only offered for the very few who have been able to take community college courses and volunteer at hospitals. I would not fret if you are unable to get the required hours and credits.
