I came across this book in a book store and bought it. It's by the Burchers. It has 3000 words in it. I checked the 22 words from Nov 8th test (from Dark Knight) and found 20 of them in this book. It even has the word "acerbic". It does not have "metaphor" (which I dont think is a hard word) and "antediluvian". Looks pretty good to me.

Has anyone used this book? What do you think of it? Is it a good book?

You know what else is a great book for the SAT? The Merriam Webster's Dictionary. Memorize all of those words and you'll be set for the SAT. In fact, I've checked every SAT against this book and EVERY WORD shows up in that book EVERY TIME!!!

look, I get that a lot of SAT words show up in the book, but it's 3000 words! who is going to memorize all 3000 words? You're much better off with Direct Hits, or just learning word parts.

If you still have time, please have a look at "500 words on the SAT and how to remember them forever". This is GOOD supplement to the combo of lists that anhtimmy has recommended above. Decent 600 words, I suppose. I didn't care about the funny examples in it though. Just studied the vocab in the way that I feel most comfortable with.
