I'm a transfer student from an 4 year university in the US.
I'm already accepted by UCSD.
But, these days I heard from my friends that major courses will not transferable.
I already have 73 credit hours now
(10 of them are probably not transferable, thus should be 63 overall)
and 12 of 63 are major courses.
I'm so worry about that because if the upper level classes are not transferable.
I will lose 22 credit hours.
But, is that 60 credit hours should be minimum in the case of acceptance?
I already be accepted, is that means at leaset I have 60 credit hours successfully transfered?
Anyone can help me?

Call the admissions office

@lawlking,
They said they do not do pre-evaluation.
I have to submit SIR in order to know that.
But I have to know how many credit can successfully transfered first, and then make the decision based upon it.

It’s a $100 deposit. It’s not chump change, but not super expensive either if you really want to go there.

@ LAforlife:
Thanks for your advice,
What’s $100 deposit means?
I have never heard that, May you tell me more about how it works?
Thanks so much

When you SIR, you will be asked to submit a $100 deposit. You cannot SIR without it. Once you, it will be applied towards your UCSD fees. If you choose not to attend, your deposit will not be refunded.

If they accepted you then they’re obviously ok with you transferring. If they felt that there was a problem that would have caused them to reject you, they obviously would not have accepted you. But they did. So how many units will transfer exactly? You may not find out until you SIR and continue with the transferring process, if it really matter to you (I’m not entirely sure why it does becuase they have already accepted you). But you don’t have have to give up admission at your current school, so there’s no issue. Other than possibly losing $100, but what does that really matter in the larger scheme of things?

The $100 is pretty much a non-refundable SIR fee to tell UCSD that you are going to attend their school.

@lawlking:

I really appreciate your clearly explanation.
Dose it have any bad effect for me if I sign the SIR and do not attend?
And does it affect my acceptance from other UC if I sign SIR with UCSD?
(I still waiting the decision from UCI, UCSB and UCB)

@hailin00125

You shouldn’t SIR if you’re still waiting on the others.

^^Nope, it does not look bad at all and it will not affect your admissions to other UC.
If you sign a SIR to UCSD and finally get accepted to UCI; you can withdraw your SIR from UCSD and SIR to UCI. But the thing is you have to pay another $100 to SIR UCI while UCSD keeps your previously paid $100.

@LAforlife @lawlking

Thanks for comments, I will contact admission to make sure.

Does anyone know how to check for successfully transfered credit hours without submitting SIR?

^If they’re not from California Community Colleges (or other UCs possibly…?) there’s no way to check.
