Is some of the price difference because of housing and food costs ? Would you be a commuter at Baruch? If so, you will also have those kinds of costs.
I already live in NYC so I am not considering the livinf cost. Baruch will cost me around $16k for two years towards tuition.
Whereas at UVA, I will have to consider the whole cost of attendance.
Why would you not be considering non-tuition costs in NYC? You or someone else is still going to be paying for food. Unless you live within walking distance of Baruch, youâre going to have commuting costs. Can you live rent free in NYC? A realistic comparison has to be apples to apples in terms of cost.
Iâm guessing that UVA will be a better springboard to where you want to go. You can get a concentration in Finance at McIntire. Yours has been a non-traditional route to a college degree, so I think that a UVA degree would cap off your journey with a significant accomplishment and would communicate a higher level of achievement to recruiters and potential employers than Baruch would. Itâs still important that you get top grades there and that you work to get the best internship you can for the summer after junior year. Internships are often effectively extended job interviews. UVA will als give you the benefit of more small classes and fewer large classes.
Be sure you have a firm plan in place to fund the two years at UVA (including housing/food, insurance, books etc.) before you commit to attend.
Your question would be better answered on the Wall Street Oasis forum, which is geared to the jobs of interest. UVa has relatively few nontraditional students, is isolated, and thus may not offer the in person school year coops attainable thru Baruch. In your unusual situation, that might be a better path than competing with the 20 year old McIntire boys.
Perchance are you first gen? If so, go on the websites of all bulge bracket banks right now and sign up for their diversity programs. It is too late for many of them, but should get you noticed
Because I am settled in NYC and I will have to pay for rent and food regardless!
Are you planning on continuing to rent your NYC apartment if you go to UVA? If not, what are the costs for CUNY with food & rent and what are the costs for UVA with food & rent? I strongly suspect that Charlottesville would be much less expensive, but depending on your living situation, perhaps not. But thatâs the only way to say whether the UVA is âworthâ the OOS cost or notâŠbecause people would need to know what the difference in cost between the two to know whether itâs worth it.
If you plan to keep your NYC apartment while studying out-of-state, then no, itâs not worth it to go to UVA.
Keep in mind that you canât count on getting a high paying job in IB or tech regardless of what college you attend.
Yes â definitely have an academic and/or vocational Plan B.
Would you mind explaining why not, please?
Those jobs are few and far betweenâŠthey are far from guaranteed upon graduation.
