Straight up: I do not like UVA. I don't care for the traditional college experience, and I am far more familiar with busy cities than I am with smaller college cities (I've already visited). However, I am an international student without any financial aid, so NYU is infinitely more expensive than UVA. My parents have been trying to make me go to UVA, but I am very reluctant. I also know that they are looking at no more than the cost and US News rankings. The catch with McIntire is that I am not guaranteed admission, whereas I'm already in Stern. I am an Echols Scholar at UVA if that makes a difference. Prospect major is finance or business economics. Help much appreciated!

Stern hands down, although I am not familiar with the other school you have gained admissions to. All i know is, Stern is one of the top business schools in the world, going there gives you a great opportunity to land you a fantastic job. It is one of the few schools I would pay that much money for, and that means alot, because I usually go with the cheaper school. BUT NYU is the exception, their education at Stern prepares you far better than most schools, they have the top Professors and your education will be fantastic.

“NYU is infinitely more expensive than UVA”

If your parents have a spare US $240,000 hanging around just for your education, well then fine, got to NYU. But if they don’t just exactly how do they propose to pay for that place?

As an international applicant, you have to think about which institution is most likely to help you get a job once you go home after graduation. If the only place anyone has heard of is NYU and you don’t want to be fighting to have your degree recognized, well then maybe you have to scrape the pennies together for NYU. If no one in your country cares about a name brand so long as it is a degree from the US, then you have a lot more options.
