I am really interested in Wake because it has a reputation of being preppy/conservative, and that is exactly what I'm looking for. However, yesterday a friend told me that Wake is becoming less and less preppy every year, and is becoming a lot more liberal? Is this true? If it is then I am no longer interested in Wake.

I think that they are looking for open-minded, broad thinking applicants.

I graduated a few years ago now, but I think this was always a question even when I was there, ha. Although that description likely wouldn’t be ascribed to me, I hope there will always be conservative and preppy students, as I think is good and healthy for a university to everyone. I think it’s fair to say that the university as-a-whole has sought to diversify its student body, not because its more stereotype demographics were bad to have on campus, but because a more diverse campus makes everyone smarter and more interesting and more open-minded and better global citizens. This is the same school that ranks 3rd in sending people abroad! I’d be ashamed as a grad if they didn’t at least try to make it a place where being conservative or liberal was just part of being a Deacon and member of the community, not a definition of who you are as a human. If that defines you, personally, I hope that WFU-or whatever college you attend- will challenge that cause at the most it will no longer define you and at the least, you’ll be a more informed and proud “conservative” “preppy” person!
