Is your SAT score a good indicator of your PSAT score?

I'm pretty sure someone else posted this before... But I can't find it...

But is your SAT score a good indicator of your PSAT score? Because I really never take a practice PSAT (it's just a SAT shorter version) so I usually take SAT.

And I got a pretty decent score (1960). ANd I was jsut wondering if it directly correlates. Like I heard SAT is harder than the PSAT. And it's longer.

YEAH. sorry for repeated questions.. Really sorry.

Eh, it’s kind of random. My PSATs were 205 and 207. My SATs have all been over 2210 (but I did study for every time I’ve taken the SAT/a practice test, and I didn’t study for either of my PSAT sittings, for both of which I was younger… so that probably evens out). But I know someone who got 215 on PSAT and 2030 on SAT, so I guess it can go either way.

PSAT 167
PSAT 198

SAT 2230
SAT 2250+ (pending…)

PSAT: 213
SAT: 2130

I’m one of the strange people that had the equivalent score on both. I didn’t really study for the SAT, I only took it to confirm my PSAT for NMS. My ACT, that I worked harder on, is a 34.

PSAT: 234
SAT: 2300

both QAS tests…don’t pm and ask for them

So um… None of you guys really answered my question? Is it? or is it not a good indicator?

Somewhat.
Because imho, it’s easier to bomb the PSAT.

True. It seems equal in my opinion. But I just wanted to hear CC’s experiences and opinions.

How is it easier to bomb the PSAT? Just curious =) because isn’t it shorter/less stressful in a way?

My mind works in a completely different way. In my opinion, since it’s shorter, one question lost on the PSAT > one question lost on the SAT.

I agree. I constantly get about 2 wrong per section. However 6 wrong out of 67 is WAY better than 4 wrong in 48.

^Haha so true.

6 wrong on CR on the SAT may be about a 730.
4 wrong on CR on the PSAT may be about a 70, depending on the day.

Seriously. then add on the boring, incomprehensible passages that talks about something I’m SO no interested. Yeah…

SAT is draining. really, really draining.

PSAT is worse for me because to me it was faster paced and shorter. I can do endurance, as in I can do the SAT.

Contrary to what many CCers have said, I think the SAT is less stressful. PSAT is “once” while SAT can be retaken to perform better or even superscore. Yes, the SAT is extremely long, but with 2 spoons of Nutella, I can go through the entire SAT section with no problem.

I don’t really know much about the PSAT, but I got:
PSAT: 172
SAT: 2050

Went up about 400 points from PSAT to first two SATs.

144PSAT (Soph year) -> 172 PSAT (Junior year) -> 2100 (June 2011) -> Hoping for a 2250 this November

Anything is possible. There’s no need for a tutor IMO. Best way to prepare is by doing as many practice tests as possible (Did at least 25 before I got the 2100)

Yeah it is but I think it is more of the other way around.
