Is Zoology or Wildlife Biology a Good major? Are the classes for this degree fun?

If your currently a Wildlife Biology or Zoology major, how are the classes required for this degree? I’m considering Zoology or Wildlife Biology as a major and wanted to know if others who choosed this path enjoy it because sometimes you think something is enjoyable but when you jump into it isn’t as fun as you thought it was. Just curious, is Chemistry or organic Chemsitry used in any of the Major classes in the second, third, or fourth year of the degree?

These are some of the core classes usually required for this degree:

Calculus I
Calculus II
Statistics
General Biology 1 and 2
General Chemistry 1 and 2
Organic Chemistry 1 and 2
General Physics 1 and 2
English Composition
Speech or public Speaking
Social sciences, Humanities

These are some of the Major classes that are either required for the degree or am interested in taking in if I choose this path:

Evolution
Ecology
Limnology
Marine Biology
Vertebrate Zoology
Invertebrate Zoology
Herpetology
Ichthyology
Mammalogy
Ornithology
Entomology
Wildlife habitat management
Fisheries resource management
Vertebrate Population Dynamics

Conservation Genetics
EcoToxicology
Aquatic Animal Health

Also, does this field have good pay or Job growth? Do you have to be perfect at math or chemistry to be successful in the zoology courses required for the degree?

@warblersrule can you tell me how Chemsitry Is used in some of the Zoology courses in Zoology programs?

Does this field have good pay or job growth?

No. Just ask my SIL, who worked for many many years in that field…in a research’s lab at a large public university. She enjoyed the work and found it really interesting, but like any job, there were aspects of it that weren’t so fun (so you take the good with the not good). Eventually, the professor’s funding dried up and she lost her job. Now she’s an office manager at a different university with a lower salary. She could have stayed in that field (animal research) if she’d been willing to relocated, but she had a spouse, kids, and a house to consider as well.
