After searching for the best schools for me, I narrowed it down to a list of 6 schools. Now that all of the acceptance letters arrived, I have a bit of a dilemma. I am interested in majoring in Information Systems and need to decide between the iSchool at Syracuse and the College of IST at Penn State University Park. Money is not an issue so I can afford to go to either school, but I just don’t know which one I should choose. I would love it if I could get some recommendations from people who might be able to help. Please share your thoughts!
I have a D at Syracuse and another at PSU. My answer does not pertain to the quality of the actual iSchool or the IST because they are not in those programs, but instead campus feel. They are very different. PSU is almost 3 times the size of SU. Both are great schools but I think you will need to work harder to find a niche at PSU. The sheer size of the school and student body make it more difficult to stand out there. My D at SU feels like she knows people everywhere she goes. She has had a great deal of support finding internships, etc. I feel like at PSU, you may have to initiate more of that on your own. Depending on where you want to work/live after graduation, SU definitely has a pull toward NYC. They have a campus in LA also that you can elect to study at for a semester if you choose. Best of luck with your decision. You have two great choices.
